Botox injections

Botox injects are the most frequent method used to remove unwanted wrinkles or other minor imperfections. By temporarily blocking nerve signals in an injected facial muscle, Botox prevents it from being used – smoothing wrinkles and leaving the skin looking younger.

The forehead is especially susceptible to horizontal brow lines, also known as ‘surprise lines’. Excessive facial expressions and/or a loss of elasticity in the skin cause forehead wrinkles to develop and gradually deepen. Botox tightens the skin, making it look younger. Frown lines, also called glabellar lines, are formed by intense use of the facial muscles and are one of the first signs of ageing skin. Botox reduces activity in the muscles, helping to eliminate these wrinkles. Crinkling up the nose can cause small horizontal lines to form. These ‘bunny lines’ can be eliminated by administering a much smaller amount of Botox than is necessary in other areas. Botox is injected into lines along the outer corners of the eyes known as ‘crow’s feet’. The administered dose smooths wrinkles, making the eyes look rested and fresh again. Applying Botox to the upper part of the forehead also has the positive effect of raising the outer ends of the eyebrows. Not just thread lifts, but also Botox can help achieve the ‘fox eye’ effect. The administered dose helps raise the eyebrows, eliminating sad-looking eyes and drooping eyelids. Exposing the gums and tops of the teeth while smiling can be eliminated by injecting Botox into the muscle responsible for lifting the upper lip. Tiny injections limit movement in this muscle, ensuring the patient has a nicer smile.

The onset of the desired effect starts two to ten days after the injections. How long Botox remains effective in the treated area differs from patient to patient and ranges from three to six months.
